125 Years of Sharing God’s
Love
So many blessings to celebrate!
On Sunday, September 9, 2012, a very special celebration will take place to recognize the 125th Anniversary of our congregation. In looking back over the history of St. John’s, we truly have so much to be thankful for and we are looking forward to having everyone be a part of the event.
The 125th Anniversary Committee has been very busy over the past several months working on preparations for this event. The Sunday service will host a guest preacher, The Rev. Dr. David Schmitt who is a professor from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. He teaches courses in homiletics and literature and serves as a resource to the church-at-large through writing, speaking and conducting workshops and symposia. We are delighted that he has offered to make the trip to Union for the commemoration of our anniversary.
Following the Sunday Church Service on September 9th, we will all congregate at Donley’s Banquet Hall for a delicious luncheon and celebration. A lovely meal is planned for all! Details on reserving your spot for the luncheon will be coming out this summer, so be sure to watch for the information and make your reservation. The more the merrier!
In the meantime – we’re looking for your participation! Share your artistic talents with us by creating a song, poem, skit, or short video presentation that we can present during the program. Let everyone know what St. John’s means to you and HAS meant to you and your family over the past several years.
So, get your creative juices flowing and put together your artistic venture and submit it to Deaconess Lauren before July 15th. We’re anticipating some lively and eloquent projects and hope that you will join in preparing for and participating in this momentous occasion for our church family!
Anniversary Cookbook
In addition to the grand celebration, there will be a number of opportunities to celebrate along the way. One way the committee has decided to mark the anniversary is by publishing an anniversary cookbook. Members will be able to submit their favorite recipes, and please feel free to submit favorite recipes from our previous cookbooks.
You may enter your recipes at Type N Save log on with the following information: Group Login: stjohn680 Password: banana399. If you desire, you may also submit recipes using the recipe submission forms that are located in the church lobby.
